Wordpress Competitors

You can't really say that wordpress is a competitor of pageBuzz.com because wordpress is actually an open source content management system much different than the pageBuzz content management system.

Wordpress is offered by most big hosting companies as a cheap alternative to closed supported systems like pageBuzz.

Users that don't want to pay $20 a month to pageBuzz can get wordpress based website for $2.95 a month from many different sources and hosting providers because they get it free.

However, that is where the competition really ends.

As you can see just with a few basics, wordpress does not even begin to offer what the pageBuzz CMS can offer. But that is not to say someone does not offer programming to make those functions possible.

Wodpress is the most commercially abused CMS in the world. Since technically Wordpress is not even a CMS programmers have made plugins to make it more usable.

  • Think of it like apps on your phone.

  • Your phone is the holder, you download everything you need.

The only problem with that is that things don't work together and they are unsupported.

So lets say, you download a wordpress theme for your website and want to change the colors of the menu buttons, how do you do that? You can't download an app to do it, you have to modify the code.

Even if you could download a menu builder app for wordpress it would have to be customized to work with the theme since there is no format that each follows.

Where as with pageBuzz website management all of the features are developed by the same people, so every page works with every tool.

Wordpress Commercialization

The concept of wordpress was to provide a free easy to use solution, but as it became popular everyone tried to make money on it. So while people swear by it's abilities, it really does very little on its own ad in fact you often have to buy plugins to make it do anything useful.

For example, if you want to build a simple form to have the results emailed to you, there are solutions that charge $20 a month just for that feature.

Now pageBuzz has the deluxe form builder which is a drag and drop interface that lets anyone build complete forms by dragging fields where they want them. The system supports up to 50 different forms on the main server and another 50 on the secure SSL server also standard with every account.

To do this on wordpress, to even create a simple contact form you have to find a plugin that you can install. If the plugin costs money, you need to pay for it, if it is free, then you have to make sure it is still supported which most are not.

The racket of taking advantage of wordpress users with expensive plugins is made worse because wordpress users are just uneducated about websites or they would not be using wordpress in the first place.

So they look for wordpress solutions rather than website solutions and they find low end applications that are expensive and don't offer much functionality. This is all because there is profit in selling to unsuspecting wordpress users.

Wordpress is just a Blog

Wordpress was designed as a bogging platform which it does very well but never intended as an ecommerce platform which it does not do well at all. It was never meant to manage an entire website so it is short in features and tools without outside software being added.

Now some people might think it is a great alternative to expensive CMS platforms offered by ecommerce solution providers. But with companies like our offering the pageBuzz website management system at $20 even the best CMS system are now very affordable.

It is always better to use something that was developed for the task it is being used.

You use a pickup truck to haul loads. You don't take a FIAT, chop off the roof and pull a trailer and assume it can do the same job as an F350 Super Duty Ford truck. The little FIAT was built for fuel economy and efficiency with 2 passengers and a 100 pound suitcase. The truck was built to pull a 25,000 pound trailer down the highway with a crew of 4 large construction workers and all their gear.

Different applications were built to do different things.

Just like we would not try to run your website on an iPhone you would not spend $100,000 on a server to make a phone call.

pageBuzz System Offer More

The pageBuzz system offers more than a blogging platform because it was built to do a different job.

pageBuzz comes standard with all the programs a users needs, from ecommerce to photo galleries and more.

pageBuzz offers tools like graphics editors and image tools for resizing, cropping and adding text to images. None of which wordpress would ever consider adding because there is no need for it with a blog.

But for our users, those tools make editing pages fast efficient and effective.

To be able to create custom titlespaces with text, phone number, add images and so on in minutes is great. But if you have to find a plugin, download it, install it and then pay for it, how useful is that?

Where wordpress has outside vendors creating programs you can use, pageBuzz add our own programs regularly. You never have to download anything, look for anything or install anything.

Support for Wordpress

With wordpress most host don't offer support for two simple reasons. At $2.95, it is not cost effective and they don't know the software, so they don't support it.

You will find more people on craigslist looking for help with wordpress than anything else. Does that mean it is more popular? Or does that mean people can't get help?

Shopping on craigslist for website support is not only risky it can be a real issue when a website is not working. If you can't call the host and get help, a website could be down for weeks while you find a person to help you.

It is never a good idea to use unsupported systems even if they are better and in this case, it is not better making using it even less attractive.

Wordpress Competitors

I guess any company that has their own proprietary CMS like pageBuzz would consider any company that hosts wordpress a competitor. But the fact is, if we though wordpress was better, we could offer wordpress hosting just like everyone else.

After all, it is free to use, so there is no risk to us. We don't have to support it, so no cost there. In fact if it was more profitable we would offer it, but it isn't.

We are not trying to compete with something that is free, we are creating a new and better solution for users that need more and want more.

Anyone can load wordpress into any website, but only pageBuzz customers can use our CMS.
