Updating your DNS to move your website
Changing your DNS
Domain Name Servers
If you own your own domain and
currently have it hosted at another company, you do not need to
transfer the domain to pageBuzz. You only need to update the Name
Servers with your registrar. There is no fee, no big deal, not a
big problem at all. Changes are updated usually within a few
hours but can take up to 24 depending on who you registered the
domain name through.
You can follow the general
instructions below or give us a call and we will be happy to help
you with this process.
pageBuzz uses 2 name servers for our
website hosting, you will need to designate the primary and
secondary server details with your registrar.
Primary |
NS1.THECYBERWEB.NET |
Secondary |
NS2.THECYBERWEB.NET |
To do this, you will need to know who you
registered your domain with. You will also need the login
information for your account at that registrar. If you don't want
to do this, or don't understand any of it, we can do it for you
if you are willing to provide us with the login info for your
registrar account.
Unfortunately we can not list all the
registrars, there are more than 10,000 companies offering this
type of service as registrars and resellers. You can do a whois
lookup at any registrar to get your account information and who
you purchased the domain from.
This is a basic overview of what you may
need to do. Understand that each registrar is unique and has its
own interface and they update and change them constantly. This is
just a basic outline of the process overall.
- First Login to the management console
with your registrar
- Look for an option to modify your NAME
SERVERS
(normally the name server is set to your registrars own servers by
default, you may have to remove the existing name server before you add
the new ones)
- You will need to change the Name
Servers to
ns1.thecyberweb.net
ns2.thecyberweb.net
- You may get warning messages about how
this will cause problems with your account. It won't, You need the
correct name server or the domain is useless.
- Do not add to the existing name
servers, you must remove the current name servers to prevent them from
resolving your domain. Replace them with our name servers shown above.
Once the information is updated with your
registrar it can take up to 24 hours before all the top level
name servers are updated and people can access your website on
pageBuzz.
If after an hour or so you are still going
to the old location of your website, try rebooting your computer
so it can look for the new name servers. If you are running a
router, it wont hurt to power that down and reboot that also. Any
device which saves the old IP information can slow down the
process of you accessing your website at the new address.
