Waiting For Search Traffic

You built your website now you are waiting for traffic and it does not seem to be coming. So how long should you wait for search engine traffic? And how much can you expect?

If your website is new. You could be in for a long wait. As much as 1 year or more before any significant traffic show up at your front door. That is, if any traffic shows up at all.

Recently Yahoo separated from google and started its own search system, buying overture and getting ready for a head to head battle with google. One of their new parameters for being indexed is that the site needs to be at least 1 year old. Of course this is not the only parameter, but a very significant one.

And you need to understand. Why should they list your jewelry website when they have thousands of others that were online first, many up for several years. Yahoo believes that the older websites are more developed, more reliable and likely have better foundations.

Although many new website owners are outraged by this, many ask us, how long have you been in business? They know that new companies are unreliable and could close up at any minute. So why shouldn't the search engines have the same opinion, after all, they are controlled by real people.

The problem is, you need to stay online for a year before they will even consider your website. On the positive side, once you reach that year, you have earned their trust and now they will list your website.

Of course not all search engines have the same philosophy. Some will list new sites over old sites because they are fresh and have new products. But as a rule they will not rush to list your website. They are not sure you will be in business next month and they do not want to invest resources and hard drive space if your website may not be open when they send people there.

One option is to buy a domain name that has been online for a year or more. Generally you can by domains that have been parked or have had content on them for the last year for between $50 and $1500.00. The question is, is it worth the money to be immediately considered by the search engines? In many cases it is.

If you expect to make a significant amount of money in your first year online based solely on search traffic, then spending a few hundred hundred dollars on a used domain name is a smart idea.

You can often buy domains that have hundreds or even thousands of pages listed in google and yahoo. They may not be earning large amounts of money, however, they have traffic and search engine clout. Two significant items you desperately need. For many domains in that realm check out https://websitebuzz.com.
