I have written extensive
articles on what companies need websites and even produced videos
explaining in detail how not having a website has hurt their
business.
So if you didn't get the memo
by now, the Internet is here to stay!
And it is not plugged into a
telephone line anymore. It is on cell phones, tablets and mobile
laptops.
If you are going to sit there
and tell me you don't understand that people are using the
Internet to find everything from shopping to babysitters, then I
am going to tell you that you are just being plain stupid.
If you still don't have a
website for your business it probably wont be long before you go
out of business.
Don't be one of the people
calling me telling me "I need a website fast". The can't
pay their bills, they are in trouble and need a website to get
new business.
Forget it. Websites don't do
that anymore.
Today, you need a website just
to stay in business.
Lets take a look at google for
a minute.
When you search google, it
will show you local results.
It already know where you are
and finds websites that are relevant to your location.
So the person in North
Carolina will not get the same results as a person in South
Carolina.
That means that even local
businesses will get value out of being online. Not just the big
retailers.
In the local searches, you
will only find people that have websites.
So when I look for a plumber,
the only people I find are companies with websites.
If you don't have a website,
well, I can't find you and you will never get new customers.
Because they are all using the plumbers that they can find.
I know, " you don't need
the Internet, all your business is from customer referrals"
Right?
So when my neighbor tells me
to call Joe the plumber who has done his work for years, what do
I do?
I go online, search for "Joe
the plumber in Tampa", when I don't find him.
Oh well, I just use someone
else.
Hell, I will never even find
Joe's phone number because he does not have a website.
So that whole referral thing,
well it does not work very well when you don't have a website.
If you have noticed a decline
in new customers over the last few years, now you know why.
Stop blaming the president for
raising taxes, stop blaming the economy, stop making excuses and
get a website.
Think about how much damage
you have done to your business over the last 10 years by not
having a website.
Think about how many referrals
you lost because people could not find your number.
Are you going to wait until it
is too late or wake up and smell the coffee, hey guys it's 2013
not 1973.
Today people make referrals by
text message, email and they send links to websites and facebook
pages.
But I am done trying to
convince people they need a website.
If you don't have one by now,
you are completely unconvinceable.
Lucky for me, some business do
have websites so I can find plenty plumbers, doctors, lawyers or
whatever else I need.
