pageBuzz Sucks?
I am so tired of hearing angry
webmasters telling people that pageBuzz sucks my head is
going to explode.
Just because something does
not fit every single business model does not mean that it sucks.
Does a pickup
truck suck because it only has 2 seats? Of course
not because it is made to haul cargo and pull heavy loads.
And it does that very well.
Does a compact car
suck because it can't pull a 10,000lb trailer down the
highway or fit a refrigerator in the hatchback? Of
course not, because it was built to be fuel efficient and
cost effective. And it does that very well.
So why are webmasters
saying that pageBuzz sucks when they don't have the same model
that they are used to?
Well the fact is, things
change, technology changes and the way people build websites
today is different than it was years ago.
The website hosting model has
not changed much in spite of the amazing growth of the internet.
The typical website hosting
model gives users a basic folder on a webserver, FTP access and
the ability to run programs that the users create or install.
But think about that for a
minute.
Do you know how to
write programs and install them?
Do you have the
time to learn?
Do you have time
to learn how to write APPS for your phone or tablet?
Or do you download
APPS that have been built by someone that does?
Well, pageBuzz.com
is an APP
It is a full application
for building and managing websites online. It is intended to
be easy to use, simple to manage and provide all the tools needed
in one place.
But webmasters are angry that
anyone can use this amazing APP and webmasters are losing
business, so they lash out and try to hurt us like trailer trash
on the Jerry Springer Show. They punch, pull hair ad yell as loud
as they can.
"But it just don't
matter, C'ause the peoples are sidn with us all."
You just can't bash something
because you didn't think of it, you don't drive it or you don't
use it. The fact is, there are different people with different
needs and some of those people need pageBuzz and some need
something else.
AOL Also Sucked
I remember back to the days of
AOL. Now AOL was amazing, it was huge had every possible thing
anyone could want and the fact that they were the biggest company
in the world was due to their amazing product.
But every webmaster, every
programs treated anyone that used AOL for anything at all, like
an idiot.
Well, I used AOL and loved it.
They provided the same internet access as any other host, had
more access points and once you connected they had hundreds of
features and tools.
Now, you didn't have to use
only AOL, there was an entire Internet out there you could access
if you want to, but people didn't need to, they had everything
they need on AOL.
That made webmasters and
developers angry and they made jokes about the people that used
it and looked down on those people like me.
But the fact is, I was a
webmaster / developer / programmer and I had AOL. That gave me
access to so many more resources than the other programmers,
developers and webmasters and helped build a huge customer base.
I was able to build a
successful business quickly using the tools AOL provided in
conjunction with the other resources online.
As a good webmaster you need
to embrace all the tools out there not just the ones you know how
to use.
Today, because of tools like
AOL I own my own website hosting company with a private
datacenter and enough clients to make a pile of money every month.
But the webmasters that were
yelling that AOL sucked are now saying the pageBuzz sucks while
they search daily for customers and work part time at minimum
wage jobs just to pay their bills.
They can say we suck all they
want, it does not change the fact that we offer a much needed set
of tools and have grown a huge loyal customer base. It does not
change that our product is one of the best online and provides
tools they could never develop.
We someone spends 10 years
building a software system and someone else says it sucks it is
hurtful. I is painful and it makes me sad.
But what has that person been
doing for the last ten years while we built an amazing website
building platform? Likely nothing more than complaining about
everything because they themselves don't know how to make any
money.
It seems to be the way people
deal with anything they don't understand. Racism, prejudice and
hate are just easy ways to deal with things we don't want to
learn.
Rather than webmasters taking
advantage of what pageBuzz can offer they just avoid it
completely and use something else they are more familiar with.
Here is a great example:
I had a customer for
almost 10 years and they hired a webmaster to update their
website. Immediately, I get a call to transfer the website to
another host. When I asked why the webmaster was moving the
website, if e did not have what they needed. The answered
with, "I don't know, I have not even looked at pageBuzz".
To me that is like
buying a car and spending $10,000 to replace the engine
without even looking to see if the one you bought already
runs.
I don't understand why people
are so foolish and short sighted. But luckily for us
business owners know what they want and love the tools we offer
them.
Yes, that means they don't
have to call a webmaster and pay $100 to update a page. The don't
have to a webmaster and pay when a program does not work or the
host has blocked website access because a program is using too
much CPU time.
It really means once the
website is completed, the business owner does not need the
webmaster at all. So from the webmasters standpoint, of course
they are going to move the website to something less useful, less
friendly and force the customer to depend on them for everything.
Why webmasters hate
pageBuzz
Webmasters don't like pageBuzz
because they don't have FTP access. They say they can't upload
files and build the websites they want to build.
But that is not true, we have
replaced FTP access with HTTP access which is essentially the
same except that we can control the uploads. This helps prevent
malicious uploads, site hacking and customer down time.
It also lest us control and
verify that pages have the data and replacement strings required
by the programming to insert ecommerce or edit page later.
But for the lazy ass webmaster,
they would have to lean how to use it, they would have to spend a
little more time so the customer has a better product and that is
contrary to their making money.
It is so much easier for them
to stick with what they know and keep business owners dependent
on them.
We get the fall out
So we get the fall out, we get
the blame and the hate from all the webmasters. Just like the
compact car sucks to truck owners and trucks suck to compact car
owners. While the smart people have a truck and a compact because
they value what each offers.
So you can listen to the
webmasters or make your own decision.
Should you avoid
something that might offer you exactly what you need because
someone else says so? Or will you make your own choices based on
what you need, what you want and what is best for your business?
The fact is, pageBuzz was
designed to do a certain task and it does that very well. If that
fits your business model it is the right choice for you. If it
does not, then it is not a good choice for you.
But in either case, it does
not mean that pageBuzz sucks.
