I built my Website, now how long should I wait for sales?

You would be amazed at how many time a week I hear that. or what's next, where do I put the words I want people to find me for?

Then when i respond, I get, what do you mean I wont get any sales? I don't understand if people can type the word "Jewelry" and find me then what good is the Internet. I find other businesses when I type in "jewelry".

Yes, you do find businesses, to be precise, 523 Million results on google. Every Jewelry article, business or vendor around the world.

And back in 1999 even up to the early 2000's you could actually build a page and get loads of business just waiting for it to arrive.

But that was 15 years ago and there were not even 10,000 pages listed for jewelry.

The Internet has become huge, everyone is using it from children to adults, on cell phones and tablets 24 hours a day. And because of that, you have to be on it, you have no choice.

But as a result so is everyone else.

So we are back to, you have to advertise or nothing will happen.

And before you get discouraged and close down your website, ask yourself how you shop, how you do research, online, right?

And when you want to find out how much something is for a weekend home project you check the Lowes.com or Homedepot.com website, right?

How do you get to those websites?

Do you type in "how much will it cost for lumber?", or "I need a 2x4". Nope, if you are like most people you go to yahoo, google or bing and search for "Lowes or "Home Depot". Why do people search instead of going to lowes.com or homedepot.com, because they don't know the address of the website, but they know the businesses.

The same it true for walmart, amazon and ebay, people use those business just like they use Joe the plumber and Fred the barber. And the will find Joe and Fred by, not by searching for "Plumber" or "Barber", they will find it by searching for "Joe's Plumbing of Tampa" or "Freds Haircuts of Tampa", the name of their businesses.

Well that suck right? How can you get new business from a website.

Well, you still can with the right website and enough pages and over enough time. But it wont be enough to build a business from scratch get get rich tomorrow.

A website have great value, probably more so than any other form of advertising for the money. But then again, how many TV commercials can you run for $20 a month? How many people can you mail brocheurs to for $20 a month. How many sales people can you employ for $20 a month?

Don't expect a $20 website to replace or be your advertising campaign. It just wont do that, not at all.

And even if you spend $200, a month or $1000 a month for better hosting, it wont do any more than it does for $20 a month. It is just a website and people need to accept that.

To build a business, you should never wait. You always need to build your business ever way you can.

In todays market you will be lucky to attract new customers with a website. Now I am not saying that people don't find businesses every day using the searches, but if you could build a website and get rich or even make a living, then everyone with a website would be rich and they are not.

It is just a tool, one of many tools that a business owner needs.

I don't call the phone company and ask when people are going to start calling my business. I don't call my suppliers and ask when people will start buying what they sold me.

So why are you calling your hosting company and asking when you will start seeing customers?

People believe that websites are magic. The think it will make them rich, at least that is what all the TV commercials tell them. But it wont.

Building a business is a long term project, requires much more than just a website and if you don;t understand that, then many owning a business is not the right choice for you.

Whatever you decide, please don't wait until customers start rolling in,because when they don't, I don't want the phone calls on how you failed because your website was not good enough.

Now you might think i am kidding but we have seen our share of quitters.

I have seen loads of people that closed their website in less than a month when they did not see any sales.

Seriously, less than a month from when they bought it, built it and waited. They paid for a full month and didn't even wait out the full month, just gave up. The number would amaze anyone the percentage is so high.

So if you have been thinking you can build a website and sit back and wait for sales, don't even bother wasting that month waiting.

But if you are a serious business owner, and understand commitments and building a customer base over time, the Internet is a place you want to be and pageBuzz.com is a great home for your website.

You won't find many articles from website hosting companies that tell you this information. They all want sales and will tell you just buy their this and that and wait longer. They will milk every last penny out of you until you are beat down and discouraged.

We think honestly is the best policy and we tell it like it is whether you like it or not.

We think if you know nothing will happen from having a website without advertising will prevent you from wasting time and get you started on marketing so you can grow your business. Maybe you will get a head start while your competitors have their websites at other companies that keep telling them to just wait a little longer.
