Why a 5 Page Website
Just Doesn't Work Today
I recently completed a
directory of about 100,000 businesses and took a good look at
their websites, not all but hundreds of them and they had one
common thread, most are the basic 5 page website they started
with years ago.
For the most part, they have
been unmodified, designs are dated and the look is boring and
plain. But aside from the aesthetic value they just lacked
content.
Websites are probably the most
critical tool for a business today and usually the primary and
first impression a customer will get of their business. So having
something that looks like you didn't make an effort, well, what
would you think?
Todays customers expect more,
they want information about your business, prices, products and
ANSWERS!
If you website was built by a
webmaster 10 years ago just to get you online, it is doing
nothing to help you.
Most websites have very little
to offer and in those cases, customers simply click on the next
business listed in google, yahoo or bing.
So all those TV ads, Mailings
and expensive ad campaigns, they terminated at a boring and
information less website.
I have customers that have put
everything including the kitchen sink on their websites, so much
so I have to yell at them to remove stuff so people can find
things. Then I have costumers that have 2 or 3 pages with one
paragraph, a slide show and a phone number.
The amazing thing is, the ones
with all the junk on their pages that they did themselves, their
businesses are booming. People see that they have a lot to offer,
appreciate their openness and see them as humans.
The people with 3 pages, they
call me every year and say, this website is not doing anything
for me. I have no business from it and it is just costing me
money.
So I give them the pitch, tell
them how they need to add content and get them motivated.
The next year they call again
and this time they added one more page but now the same result.
I have been in business for
well over 30 years and to date, I have never seen any business
that set up something, ignored it for a year and grew or even
continued to make money.
Businesses are hard work and
websites are also a big part of that business.
It costs the same each month
for a website with 1 page as a website with 100 pages. So why do
you have 3 pages after 3 years of having a website?
I really hate when people
blame pageBuzz because their website is not working for them. And
especially so when I tell them over and over what they need to do.
The problem is, nobody looks
long term. They add one page and see no new customers in the week
following and they give up.
So now there are millions of
neglected websites out there that need help. Websites that need
makeover and content to catch up with todays requirements.
Hey, you are not still using
that cell phone from 1999 are you? So why is your website still
saying I was built in 1999?
Today cell phones have
Internet access, video games and software apps that can do
everything from tell you how much food you ate to how many
dollars you made.
And with that type of
technology people are much more sophisticated, they expect more
from a website.
Sure you don't have to give
them games or calculators but you do need demos, video, multi
media and information about what you do and what you offer.
You need to show prices,
services and what value they can expect.
So them why you are better and
why they should use you.
It is your chance to sell what
you do. You have one chance to impress them, don't blow it.
If you are sitting on a 5 page
website, you have already blown it.
If you are considering hosting
your website at pageBuzz.com you likely read more than 5 pages
here. Now what does that tell you about what people expect?
Nobody will use our service
unless we can adequately convey what we do and why we are better.
If you spent any time on our
website, you know those are exactly the answers you are looking
for.
So don't ignore that when it
comes to your website. Don't miss out on all the business that is
viewing your website. Build some pages, and give the customers
what they are after.
It wont cost you a penny and
it can make you a pile of cash.
