Building
Websites for Used Car Dealers
With craigslist charging $5 per ad to car
dealers in 2014 there are more and more small dealers looking for
their own websites for better advertising opportunities and
lowers costs. And with pageBuzz offering an amazing car dealer website for
just $20 a month dealers are
looking to us more and more for that solution.
I don't know why so many ignored having a
website up to now, but the fact that we are the cheapest and have
the most to offer any used car dealer, we are cleaning up with
dealer websites. We now have the most new signups of used car
dealers needing websites than we have ever had before.
So for us, business is great, better than
great. But we want each and every car dealer to have the same
success that we are enjoying and that is why we offer them so
much for $20.
But then when I see the websites they are
building, I have to ask some of these new signups, "WHAT
THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING?".
Somehow, some way, they quickly remove the
default settings and find in the lost archives some out dated
templates we had from over 10 years ago (clearly
labeled as dated with a warnings not to use them),
add some mismatched buttons and text and then add a paragraph or
two with nothing more than a "welcome to my website"
message.
Now, I am not expecting every used car
salesman to be a website designer, but I do expect them to
realize that what they are doing does not look good and wont
impress any of their customers.
I often
have to call them and ask if I can help.
Now, I am not sure why I have to
offer my help when it is FREE for
the asking, but it seems like many do not ask for help until it
is too late.
A little About Me
The thing is, I know this market. I am a
classic car enthusiast always having several classic cars in my
collection. I build my own custom cars and have an extensive
background in automotive engineering. I have worked in
manufacturing, auto repair, auto body and even paint my own cars.
I built the buzztrader.com used car
classified back in 2004 to appeal to classic car dealers as well
as getting involved in something that I love to do. Since then I
have bought cars listed on buzztrader and sold several of my own
cars listed on buzztrader. It is what I like to do.
So I know a few things about building
websites for used car dealers.
We have been building our inventory
management system since 2004 and it just keeps getting better
adding more and more tools, image editing tools, ability to add
video and so on and on....
What they are doing!
So when people get on and build a website
that looks like this:
I
have to wonder why, when I offer my help for FREE!
We are helping the
dealers that are not afraid to call us, create website like these:
I know used car dealers are
busy, just like everyone else is busy with their business. But I
also know the need a website and it should look professional.
That is why we offer our help,
no charge to clean up the website and make it look better. Add a
custom title, change the colors and clean up the messy pages.
Yes, that is right, no
charge for help. I don't see any of our competitors
offering that and certainly not for $20 a month.
We used to have hundreds of
templates for car dealers but today we realize it is better to
make each website unique and special and leave those old 2004
templates back in the junkyard.
Just like cars get old and
dated, so do website designs and we want our customers to keep
them fresh and exciting.
We have added new ways of
displaying inventory, new ways of showing cars, sideshows and
presentations that can elevate a design above your competition.
Nobody expects a used car
salesman to sit down at a computer and hack out an autotrader.com
or cars.com level website design. But they do expect things to
match and the colors to look semi reasonable.
No place in this design is
that even close.
You don't have to be a website
design expert to know that is ugly.
Lets bring that into a perspective
that a used car dealer can understand better.
You don't have to be
a used car salesman, website design or even a human being
to know that not many people would like to buy this car
in spite of it being a desirable corvette. But somebody thought it looked great and took
a lot of time to create it.

Ugly is ugly whether t is a
website or a used car and anyone should be able to understand
that. If you filled your used car lot with cars looking like this
corvette, you might go broke.
The same goes for your website.
If it looks like the ugly used
car dealer website example shown
above you might not have any customers no matter how good the
vehicles are that you are selling.
As a car salesman you know
that the customers impression of a car is the key t any sale.
That shinny paint is more important than having good brakes, that
a clean interior is more important than new tires.
Image is everything and you
have to have good looking cars to sell them.
So why can't
you understand that you need a good looking website to sell cars?
If you can't do it yourself,
just ask us for help. We do this all day every day and know what
you need and how to work with your design to make it professional.
We have built thousands of
used car websites and have a great handle on what everyone else
is doing and what will look great on your pages.
The vehicle galleries are
automated, so they have set looks that always maintain a
professional appearance but the pages and the main layout are
at your mercy and can become a hot mess in a few seconds.
If you have created a website
that looks like the sample we showed you above, don't wait too
long before you ask us for help or you might be scaring off
customers thinking your cars are as ugly as your website.
Of course we don't limit our
services to used car dealers, we work with people in almost every
market. But we do have a better understanding than most companies
about used car websites and that is why we created the
programming to run them.
Because we don't only manage
used car dealer website we also have a much different perspective
than our competitors in the market. We have a much broader
understanding of websites in general and have developed tools far
beyond what most car dealers will ever find on other systems. Our
customers range from home based businesses to major retail and
mail order companies.
We have tools to accommodate
almost every industry and that gives car dealers access to tools
that other host specializing in car dealer CMS would never
consider adding.
While that make pageBuzz the
most powerful system that used car dealers can use to build a
website it also makes it a bit more complicated than our more
simplified competitors. So to get it right you might need some
personal one on one help.
If you want something
professional don't try it yourself when we are offering our help
